VCE scaling lookup

See how a raw study score (0–50) in a VCE Maths or Science subject scales to a scaled score, using VTAC's published scaling reports. These are historical, published figures for a given year — not a prediction of next year's scaling.

Choose a subject and enter a raw study score (0–50) to see the 2025 scaled score.

Numbers come from the 2025 VTAC Scaling Report (released 11 December 2025). They are official, rounded whole numbers only at the seven anchor points (raw 20/25/30/35/40/45/50); any other score shown here is interpolated, not VTAC's published two-decimal value.

This is historical data for 2025 — it can't predict next year's scaling. The following year's figures are only known when VTAC releases the new Scaling Report (around 11 December). Always confirm against the current VTAC reports page.

How scaling fits the bigger picture

Scaling adjusts each subject's study scores so a given rank is worth the same across subjects. It is only one step toward an ATAR: VTAC then aggregates your best scaled scores — your top four plus increments from others, with your English study counting toward the aggregate — before converting that into a percentile rank. This tool looks up a single subject's scaled score only; it does not calculate an ATAR.

For the full explanation, read our guide to ATAR, study scores and scaling, and the difference between a study score and an ATAR. To estimate your overall rank, use the ATAR calculator.

Scaling figures come from VTAC's published reports and are indicative — confirm the current year's report with VTAC. ATAR99 is an independent study tool, not affiliated with VTAC or VCAA.

Lift the number you control

Scaling you can't change — your rank you can. Practise past-exam-style papers and fix the marks you keep dropping.
